What affects the cost of window cleaning in Cape Town?

Window cleaning in Cape Town is quoted on the amount of glass, how high and how easy it is to reach, how much build-up there is (salt, dust or paint), whether frames and tracks are included, and how often you book. Coastal homes and glass-heavy houses on the slopes take more time than a ground-floor flat — so every job gets its own fixed quote.

1. How much glass

The number of windows matters less than the area of glass and the number of panes. One big stacking door can take less time than ten small burglar-barred windows, because every pane and bar has to be done by hand.

Helpful details:

  • Number of sliding or stacking doors
  • Large picture windows or floor-to-ceiling glass
  • Glass balustrades on balconies
  • Burglar bars and security gates in front of glass

2. Height and access

Ground and first-floor glass is standard. Higher glass, skylights, double-volume windows and glass over drops need to be assessed first so the team brings the right equipment and works safely. Access through a neighbour's property or over a roof changes the plan too.

3. Build-up

This is where Cape Town is different:

  • Salt spray on sea-facing glass in Strand, Gordon's Bay, Blouberg and the Atlantic Seaboard builds a film that needs proper removal. See why coastal windows go dull so fast.
  • South-easter dust coats wind-facing glass in Somerset West and the Helderberg every summer.
  • Paint, plaster and adhesive after renovations need careful blade work — that is a post-construction clean.

4. Frames, sills and tracks

Glass-only cleans are faster. Most homeowners want frames, sills and sliding-door tracks done too — sand in the tracks is what makes sliders stiff.

5. Inside, outside or both

Interior glass is often included in a deep or move-out clean. Exterior glass is quoted as its own service or as an add-on.

6. Frequency

Regular schedules keep build-up low, so each visit is quicker. As a rule of thumb: sea-facing glass about monthly, other coastal homes every one to two months, inland homes every two to three months.

FAQ

Quick answers

Do you charge per window?

We quote a fixed price for the whole job, based on the amount of glass, access, build-up and what's included.

Are high windows extra?

Higher or difficult glass is assessed first so the right equipment is used, and that is reflected in the quote.
